SNC Receives First Finnish Border Guard MVX Aircraft for RAPCON-X® Systems Integration

  • SNC received the first Finnish Border Guard MVX aircraft for systems integration and modification.

  • SNC will design, integrate and deliver the MVX jet, dramatically increasing the Finnish Border Guard’s border and maritime security capabilities.

  • The first MVX aircraft will be delivered to the Finnish Border Guard in early 2027; the second will follow a year later.

SPARKS, Nev. (October 2, 2025) SNC, the global aerospace and national security company, recently received the first Challenger 650 aircraft for the Finnish Border Guard’s MVX program at SNC’s aircraft integration center in Hagerstown, Maryland. Leveraging its RAPCON-X family of systems approach, SNC will design, integrate and deliver the jet with cutting-edge sensors and systems, dramatically increasing the Finnish Border Guard’s border and maritime security capabilities.

The Finnish Border Guard has been an outstanding partner, and we are excited to be one step closer to delivering the RAPCON-X capability to Finland,” Tim Owings, executive vice president of SNC’s Mission Solutions and Technologies business area. “This program milestone comes at a pivotal time in Europe’s increasingly unpredictable security environment and SNC is committed to helping our customers enhance their border and maritime security.”

The Finnish Border Guard fleet monitors borders and territorial waters, aids in rescue efforts during maritime emergencies, identifies environmental emergencies at sea and supports clean-up efforts. The aircraft also assist other authorities in monitoring the state and situation of the Baltic Sea as well as Finland's territorial integrity. The MVX jets will significantly increase operating time, multi-mission capability and transport capacity. They will also be equipped with advanced technical systems and modern surveillance sensors for more efficient monitoring and border security, particularly along the eastern border.

SNC worked closely with Bombardier and the MVX program team to streamline the acceptance process and ensure rapid and efficient operational implementation of the new capability. The first MVX aircraft has already received its final livery and completed all factory test flights. SNC will now complete the final aircraft modifications and integrations from its facility in Hagerstown, Maryland. Utilizing the RAPCON-X open architecture for mission systems will greatly reduce the time required to integrate new systems and add capabilities, while providing superior interoperability and upgradability for the next 30 years.

“RAPCON-X is a world-class, multi-role aircraft designed to excel in the demanding operating conditions the Finnish Border Guard faces,” said Josh Walsh, vice president of programs. “This represents a new era of aviation in the Finnish Border Guard, and SNC is honored to work alongside them to deliver this advanced capability to Finland.”

The MVX program started in 2019 and has progressed rapidly since the procurement contract was signed in June 2024. The first aircraft, OH-MVX, will be delivered to the Finnish Border Guard in early 2027. The second aircraft, OH-MVY, will follow a year later.
