SPARKS, Nev. (September 28, 2026) – SNC today announced plans to expand the capabilities of its AEGIR™ uncrewed surface vessels (USV) with new counter uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) technology integrations. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australian software and sensing company, Visionary Machines, SNC will explore adding advanced on-the-move surveillance capabilities to AEGIR for enhanced maritime threat detection and situational awareness.
AEGIR is designed as a family of multi-mission USV systems intended to operate across contested maritime environments, with applications spanning intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), electronic warfare (EW), autonomous logistics, maritime security, mine detection and specialized payload delivery.

The collaboration is intended to study bringing Pandion Sentinel, Visionary Machines' passive optical perception technology, onto the AEGIR platform, enabling rapid threat detection and improved command and control. Pandion Sentinel detects, tracks and classifies threats without emitting a signal, a property suited to the adverse, GPS-denied environments AEGIR is built for. The system will be deployed, integrated, validated and supported by Visionary Machines engineers during the preparation and execution phases.

AEGIR’s successful deployment in an active maritime theater in early 2026 demonstrated USV doctrine at TRL 9. With more than 100 USV units deployed, it is proven effective up to Sea State 5.
