SPARKS, Nev., November 13, 2018 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has again been named a Tier 1 Superior Supplier by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as part of its 2018 Superior Supplier Incentive Program (SSIP) ratings. This marks the third time the aerospace and technology company has earned the prestigious recognition. The ratings are designed to incentivize excellent performance and are created using the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS).
The CPARS allows USAF airmen to rate contracted companies on several performance criteria including schedule adherence, quality control, management responsiveness, professional conduct and complexity of work. Three years of CPARS data is used to compile the current year’s SSIP rankings.
“This Tier I SSIP rating is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team on all of our USAF programs,” said Jon Burgoyne, executive vice president for SNC’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Aviation & Security (IAS) business area. “Less than half of the 20 companies considered for the superior rating were recognized with the honor, which is evidence of the IAS team’s effort day in and day out to ensure program excellence on behalf of all airmen.”
Each branch of the U.S. military implements the SSIP rating system, and publishes ratings into three performance tiers, with Tier I being the best. Tier I-rated companies are awarded the Superior Supplier Status for one year.
SNC has worked with the Air Force for much of its 53-year history. SNC currently performs functions for the USAF including modification, integration and completion, systems design and engineering, and maintenance, training, and ground support.
