Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Dream Chaser® to Participate in the Space Shuttle Atlantis’ Grand Opening

SPARKS, Nev. , June 28, 2013 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has announced its participation in the Space Shuttle Atlantis’ grand opening at the Kennedy Space Center’s Visitors Complex in Cape Canaveral, Fla.

On June 29, 2013, the newly constructed 90,000 sq. ft. $100 million Space Shuttle Atlantis display will open to the public, showcasing the legacy Space Shuttle program and the influence it has had on America’s space program. SNC will participate in the grand opening weekend by unveiling a new 1/3 scale Dream Chaser® model that will remain on display at the Kennedy Space Center’s Visitors Complex indefinitely.

“SNC is thrilled to have partnered with NASA and Delaware North to bring the Dream Chaser, the next generation space transportation vehicle, to the Kennedy Space Center,” said Mark Sirangelo head of SNC’s Space Systems. “Having our Dream Chaser on display in the same complex as the Space Shuttle Atlantis is truly an honor. We are all inspired by the legacy of the Space Shuttle and look forward to calling Florida home to our Dream Chaser flight vehicle.”

SNC is one of three companies funded by NASA's Commercial Crew Program to develop the Dream Chaser® Space System. The Dream Chaser Space System is on the forefront of the commercial human spaceflight industry, offering safe, reliable, and cost effective crew and critical cargo transportation to low Earth orbit.
