SPARKS, Nev. (Oct. 13, 2025) – Global aerospace and defense contractor SNC is rolling out a new software platform it says will transform how U.S. forces share data across land, air, sea, space and cyber domains.
The system, called TRAX Edge, is an advanced version of the company’s long-running SNC TRAX software, which has been in use for nearly a decade by more than 100,000 users worldwide. Designed as a SaaS product, TRAX Edge seeks to address one of the Department of Defense’s (DOD) most persistent challenges: enabling different platforms, sensors and services to communicate seamlessly in real time.
For the military, the stakes are high. The DOD’s push toward Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) envisions commanders drawing on data from every corner of the battlespace –satellites, aircraft, ground units, ships and cyber operators – to make faster decisions than adversaries. But building a secure, interoperable network across legacy and modern systems has proven notoriously difficult and expensive.
TRAX Edge offers a solution by blending secure cloud-based architecture with edge computing, artificial intelligence and a wide range of certified connections with more than 65 system integrations, 15 radio links and support for 20-plus messaging protocols. It also promises compliance with the DOD’s strict Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification standards.
“We invested significantly in the SNC TRAX program over the last several years to offer our customers more than just another software update and instead delivered a product that will revolutionize battlefield connectivity and decision making,” said Tim Owings, executive vice president of SNC’s Mission Solutions & Technologies business area.
The platform supports more than 100 API plug-ins that provide real-time data integration – capabilities critical for live-fire exercises, combat operations and intelligence missions. The open architecture allows TRAX Edge to work with any existing system or software as demonstrated by over 35 third-party commercial integrations. The upgraded version of TRAX expands that catalog, using AI/ML to offer faster data pathways and enhanced security features.
TRAX Edge is designed for adaptability, whether deployed on small edge devices with limited computing power or at enterprise cloud scale. The software’s modular design allows customers to tailor functions to specific missions, from geospatial data queries to advanced analytics.
“We kept all of the best parts of TRAX that our customers trust and have come to expect and infused it with next-gen AI and security features for a new web-based user interface and completely modernized architecture with even more connections,” said Lisa Godenick, senior vice president of strategy.
The DOD has poured billions into JADC2 initiatives across the services, but critics say progress has been uneven. By offering TRAX Edge as a service-based product, SNC is positioning itself as a nimble alternative to more cumbersome, platform-specific solutions.
The rollout comes as U.S. defense leaders warn of rapidly evolving threats that demand fielding faster decision making and tighter coordination among forces. TRAX Edge seeks to bridge longstanding interoperability gaps and is investing heavily in its modernized platform to give commanders the speed and clarity they need “at the speed of threat.”
