COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., November 08, 2017 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) last month celebrated the opening of its newest facility at the Colorado Springs Airport. The 60,000-square-foot aircraft hangar is the second SNC location at the airport. The company also has plans to construct facilities for its subsidiary, Sierra Completions. The hangar is part of SNC’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) business area.
SNC has approximately 1,000 ISR business area employees, many of whom reside in Colorado. SNC’s ISR business area is known throughout the aviation industry for its innovative aircraft systems design, modification, inspection and certification. Thanks to the supportive and accommodating environment at the city, county and state level, SNC has been able to continue its growth in the Colorado Springs region.
One way SNC will continue this growth is by capitalizing on its world-class engineering and design through its subsidiary Sierra Completions. Sierra Completions is a VIP aircraft completions company specializing in design, modification, integration, modernization, overhaul and certified aircraft maintenance.
When fully operational, Sierra Completions plans to have a combined hangar area of over 330,000 square feet with an additional 75,000 square feet of warehouse space and auxiliary back-shop space. Upon completion, Sierra Completions facilities are set to become the focal point of the new Colorado Aerospace Park at the Colorado Springs Airport.
Most recently, Sierra Completions, working together with SNC’s skilled Airworthiness Department, received its Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Repair Station License. In addition to its License, Sierra Completions received special commendation from the Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) in both Seattle and Denver on its manuals, which now serve as the gold standard for FAA Safety Assurance System (SAS) compliance.
