Vice President, Business Development Integrated Mission Systems
Colonel Bill Morris, USA, Retired, is the vice president of business development for Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) business area based in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Before joining SNC, Morris served as Vice President for Strategy and Small Medium Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems for the AAI Corporation (a subsidiary of Textron Systems Corporation). During his 27-year career in the United States Army COL Morris commanded units around the world, from Iraq to Korea, at every level from platoon to Combat Aviation Brigade. He also served as the CJ3 (operations officer) for the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. Morris concluded his career as the director of Army Aviation, Headquarters, Department of the Army, G-3/5/7, where he led the coordination of aviation transformation, modernization, and support to overseas operations such as Operation Enduring Freedom and advised senior leadership on planning and programming requirements for a $22 billion aviation budget. Throughout his aviation career, COL Morris also served on several important steering groups where he represented the Army’s UAS requirements and policy to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Army staff, the Federal Aviation Administration and members of Congress.
COL Morris’ civilian education includes a bachelor’s degree in political science from Providence College, a master’s degree in aerospace management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree in national security studies from the Army War College. He is a Master Army Aviator rated in the UH-60L (Blackhawk) and the AH-64D (Apache Longbow). Awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Ranger Tab, Silver Order of Saint Michael Award, Order of Saint Barbara Award and the Order of Saint Maurice Award.
