This hands-on technical position will work on leading implementation and supporting issues in complex project focused Information Technology (IT) networks. As part of the SNC Herndon team, this position will participate in all day-to-day activities and project goals with respect to the monitoring and maintenance of network environments. Technical responsibilities include providing design, implementation & support of LAN. This position will help lead and actively participate in projects supporting network implementations and enhancements. Determines appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications to provide a high level of security according to network service level agreement. Researches, provides vision and implements new technologies to meet emerging customer requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support LAN/WAN/Internet/VPN/Cloud network services for security and reliability

  • Implement transition and support of some programs into AWS cloud infrastructure

  • Design, configure and troubleshoot network switches, routers, firewalls, VPN and Cloud services

  • Analyzing and resolving faults, ranging from a major system crash to forgotten passwords

  • Manage VMWare, Active Directory, Windows and LINUX Server environment

  • Develop and implement cyber security vulnerability remediation.

  • Install, support and maintain new server hardware and software infrastructure

  • Occasionally support non-standard hours to support operational requirements

MUST-HAVES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 10 or more years of relevant experience

  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience

  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)

  • Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and managing Linux servers

  • Superior communication skills, and ability to understand customer needs and requirements

  • Experience deploying Linux, Mac, and Windows based desktop environments

  • Managing software deployment and patch management of servers and desktops

  • Manage the implementation, configuration, deployment and ongoing support of the VMware vSphere server infrastructure hosting enterprise applications

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
