The System and Network Administrator Engineer is responsible for designing, supporting, and administration of computing hardware systems, packaged software, peripheral equipment, proprietary software, and network connectivity to ensure the efficient and successful operations of the remote and local customer systems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Design and maintain computer and networked systems

  • Provide technical support to fielded systems, systems integration laboratory, and engineering efforts

  • Design and support System Integration projects in a dynamic fast paced environment

  • Track and resolve requests for related services and support

  • Support business development in defining systems architectures for business opportunities during the program capture phase

  • Support the engineering team on refining the system architecture during the proposal effort

  • Work closely with the project engineer and manufacturing in developing the Engineering Program Plan (EPP)

  • Support fielded systems and sustainment

  • Lead the program efforts to interpret customer requirements and decompose them into hardware and system requirements and specifications

  • Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities

  • Act as a technical liaison to the Program Manager

  • Ensure product manufacturability, testability and supportability

  • Plan production fixtures, test procedures and test equipment

  • Support the project engineer in tracking the EPP

  • Prepare material for, and conduct periodic design reviews

  • Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with customer quality, cost and schedule requirements

  • Ensure that all specifications, designs and developments adhere to SNC standards and customer requirements

  • Provide support in the development and maintaining of configuration baselines for systems and sub-systems

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Follow Sierra Space policies, procedures and work instructions for all technical activities

  • Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours

  • Flexible work hours required

  • Off-hours implementations and remote site travel a must

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Requires a BS in Related Field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering)

  • Minimum of 6+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer/Systems Administrator, Systems/Network Analyst, Systems Analyst, IT Analyst/Administrator, Software Engineer/Systems Administrator etc.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • RedHat Linux System Administration experience mandatory. (CompTIA A+ certification preferred)

  • Network File Systems (NFS, GPFS, Lustre, Samba, CIFS)

  • Experience with DoD Software, Security, and Accreditation policies and tools

  • Windows XP, 7, 10 systems administration experience preferred

  • Cisco knowledge required (Cisco CCNA/CCNP preferred)

  • Hands-on expertise with a wide variety of network related tools, concepts, technologies, best practices and security procedures

  • Hands-on expertise with network hardware, protocols, and media including but not limited to Fiber Optics, UTP, and Wireless

  • DNS, DHCP, IP, TCP, UDP, Multicast Streaming

  • Familiarity with Designing, Building, and Fielding Systems while using engineering best practices for Configuration Management and Documentation.

  • Writing and maintaining Shell scripts (BASH, CSH, TCSH or equivalent)

  • Familiar with Python, PERL, PowerShell or equivalent is desired

  • Must be willing to travel

  • Able to obtain DoD Clearance (TS/SCI preferred)

  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewall configuration and management

  • Familiarity with SD-WAN deployments

  • Multi-vendor (HPE, Dell, Nimble, etc.) Systems experience

  • Experienced in managing large scale VMware environments
