Sierra Nevada Corporation Awarded $27.9 Million Contract for Modification to Support U.S. Navy Counter-IED Efforts

SPARKS, Nev., April 15, 2015 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has been awarded a $27.9 million contract modification by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD). The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract was previously awarded in 2009 to support Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal (JSEOD) personnel.  The purpose of this current modification award is to exercise the fourth option year for the procurement and sustainment of the AN/PLT-5 man-portable countermeasures system, known as Thor II, for the Counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare (CREW) program.

The Thor II AN/PLT-5 is one of SNC’s Electronic Warfare and Range Instrumentation (EWR) solutions. Our EWR product lines are currently supporting numerous United States military contingencies worldwide and protecting first responders against Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices. SNC’s EWR software definable systems support man-portable (backpack), vehicular, fixed-site and airborne applications. Collectively the SNC EW architecture provides a solid foundation for networked, light weight and industry leading Size, Weight and Power EW solutions.

Work will be performed primarily in Sparks, Nevada and is expected to be completed by March 2016.
