Sierra Nevada Corporation Receives Nevada National Guard's "Above & Beyond" Award

May 28, 2014 – The Nevada National Guard's (NVNG) Nevada Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR) committee has recognized Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) with the "Above & Beyond" Award for the company's commitment to providing its Guard and Reserve employees with exceptional benefits. SNC was honored at the Annual ESGR Employer Recognition Event on May 14, 2014 at the North Las Vegas Readiness Center. Michael McKenzie, SNC's talent acquisition specialist accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The ESGR has recognized employers who go above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits since the early 1970s. According to the ESGR, our nation relies heavily on Guard and Reserve service members and employer support, such as differential pay, to offset lost wages and extended health benefits which enhances retention rates in the Armed Forces, strengthening our national security.

"It is an extraordinary honor for SNC to be recognized for supporting our Guard & Reserve employees and families," said SNC's President, Eren Ozmen. "Dreams, aspirations and ideas have little meaning if one does not have the liberty and freedom to pursue them. We have the greatest appreciation for all of the men, women and families sacrificing to protect our country and these freedoms."

The "Above & Beyond" Award is given annually to select employers at the local level that had one of their supervisors or managers previously recognized with a Patriot Award, and who have signed a Statement of Support, pledging continued support of our country's service members and their families. SNC's Scott Baun, field site manager, received the Patriot Award earlier this year. SNC was one of 23 companies nominated in 2014.
