SNC Awarded $4.9 million extension by Air Force Research Laboratory for Net Sparks, Nevada –January 3, 2008 – Sierra Nevada Corporation announces that it has been
awarded an engineering change contract worth $4.9 million to their Net Centric SIGINT
Sensor Manager (NCSSM) program applying innovative, advanced technologies to
collect, process, and exploit Signal Intelligence (SIGINT). The objective of this effort is SNC subject matter experts in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), distributed artificial intelligence, and knowledge engineering will develop and test techniques to improve multi-sensor and multi-platform collection. This significantly improves the value of the intelligence being collected making it more relevant to the warfighter needs. "This extension to SNC was based on a number of criteria, including the overall scientific and/or technical merit of the proposal, the potential contributions of the effort to the mission and overall research and development program at AFRL, and finally the consideration of past and present performance of SNC on recent government contracts," stated Ozmen. This program is sponsored by AFRL’s Multi-Sensor Exploitation Branch which is located in Rome, New York.
