SNC Renews CMMI Maturity Level 3 Rating! Sparks, Nevada – June 23, 2009 - Sierra Nevada Corporation announces that its Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Business Area was found to satisfy all of the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model® IntegrationSM (CMMI®) Maturity Level 3 requirements. CMMI® is recognized as the standard for benchmarking industry's maturity in engineering and management processes. CNS/ATM demonstrated Maturity Level 3 compliance to CMMI® for Development Version 1.2 with the Integrated Product and Process Development addition (CMMI-DEV+IPPD) using the Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) Version 1.2. The SCAMPISM A reappraisal, required to renew CNS/ATM’s 2006 Maturity Level 3 rating, was led by an SEI Authorized Lead Appraiser from The Process Group of Dallas TX. The appraisal covered the systems engineering and software engineering product development capability at multiple sites (Sparks NV, Salt Lake City UT, and Irvine CA). The SEI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense and operated by Carnegie Mellon University. The CMMI® product suite was developed to integrate multiple capability maturity models into a single framework for use by organizations pursuing enterprise-wide process improvement.
