SNC Awarded $4.9 million extension by Air Force Research Laboratory for Net
Centric SIGINT Sensor Management

Sparks, Nevada –January 3, 2008 – Sierra Nevada Corporation announces that it has been awarded an engineering change contract worth $4.9 million to their Net Centric SIGINT Sensor Manager (NCSSM) program applying innovative, advanced technologies to collect, process, and exploit Signal Intelligence (SIGINT). The objective of this effort is to develop a real-time, automated SIGINT situation awareness, assessment, and course of action technologies and applications for the AFRL’s Net-Centric SIGINT Focused Information Exploitation (NCSFIE). This system of systems enables applied knowledge sharing for dynamic, actionable intelligence operations.

SNC subject matter experts in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), distributed artificial intelligence, and knowledge engineering will develop and test techniques to improve multi-sensor and multi-platform collection. This significantly improves the value of the intelligence being collected making it more relevant to the warfighter needs.

"This extension to SNC was based on a number of criteria, including the overall scientific and/or technical merit of the proposal, the potential contributions of the effort to the mission and overall research and development program at AFRL, and finally the consideration of past and present performance of SNC on recent government contracts," stated Ozmen.

This program is sponsored by AFRL’s Multi-Sensor Exploitation Branch which is located in Rome, New York. AFRL is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, AFRL was created in October 1997 through the consolidation of four former Air Force laboratories and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. AFRL's mission is leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for America’s aerospace forces. It is a full-spectrum laboratory, responsible for planning and executing the Air Force’s science and technology program. The laboratory provides leading-edge warfighting capabilities keeping our air, space, and cyberspace forces the world’s best.
